Whenever I see a pizza with spicy pepperoni and honey on a menu, it’s almost an instant order for me. I’m excited to share this version of a spicy honey and salami pizza recipe using ingredients 100% from Trader Joe’s. Trader Joe’s is my personal favorite grocery store, and I love taking advantage of all the delicious specialty products you can pick up there, like the Romanesco Sauce, which doubles as the pizza sauce for this dish. (Grab a baguette while you’re at the store to enjoy it as a dip, too!)
I was inspired to create this Trader Joe’s “shortcut” version of a recipe from Tieghan Gerard’s cookbook, Half Baked Harvest Every Day. I loved that Half Baked Harvest cookbook so much. Everything that I’ve made from it has turned out delicious, and Tieghan’s food photography is always stunning. I’ve included an Amazon affiliate link to her cookbook above if you’re feeling inspired to pick it up – I highly recommend it! Her version of this recipe, Pizza alla Diavola, includes instructions for making a homemade nutty roasted red pepper sauce. We will shortcut that here by using the Trader Joe’s store-bought Romanesco Sauce. It makes the recipe even more quick and convenient, and it still tastes wonderful.
Don’t even get me started on the Trader Joe’s Italian Bomba Hot Pepper Sauce, which we will use here, too. That stuff is addictive. Not to be dramatic, but I think it is my all-time favorite Trader Joe’s product (but don’t hold me to that)! I will think up excuses to put it on anything and everything. If you’ve got ranch dressing on hand, try mixing some ranch with a scoop of the hot pepper sauce to make a spicy dipping sauce for your pizza crust. I also love the Italian Bomba Sauce tossed in pasta with a squeeze of lemon juice. If you love the hot pepper sauce as much as I do, you will find so many ways to use the rest of the jar.

Trader Joe’s Spicy Honey and Salami Pizza
Ingredients
- 1 package Trader Joe's Pizza Dough
- ¼ cup Trader Joe's Romenesco Sauce
- 2 tbsp Trader Joe's Italian Bomba Hot Pepper Sauce (or pickled hot peppers / calabiran chilis)
- 4 oz low-moisture mozzarella cheese, torn or sliced
- ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
- 1 oz spicy salami, sliced (I used the calabrese salami from Trader Joe's)
- 1 shallot, quartered
- finely ground sea salt
- basil leaves, for serving
- Trader Joe's Organic Spicy Honey Sauce, for drizzling
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 475 °F.
- On a lightly floured work surface, roll out the pizza dough or shape it by hand. Transfer the pizza dough to a lightly oiled baking sheet (or use parchment paper).
- Spread romanesco sauce on the dough, leaving a border for the pizza crust. Layer on the hot pepper sauce, mozzarella, and parmesan. Scatter salami on top of pizza.
- Separate the shallot quarters into single "leaves" and toss with olive oil and salt in a small bowl. Arrange the shallot leaves on the pizza.
- Bake pizza for 12 minutes.
- Remove from oven. Top with torn basil leaves. Drizzle the spicy honey on the pizza. Slice and serve.
